You will never transition out of your job successfully if you don’t up your game.
Do you realise that you are worth much more than what you are currently earning in your business?
So why are you charging low fees for your services?
It can become so easy as women, to tell ourselves little stories about not being able to generate enough business revenue, because deep down we are comfortable playing it safe in our jobs. We are guaranteed a monthly salary that will cover our bills and all other expenses. So there isn’t really a true sense of urgency to make more money in our side business.
But here’s the thing, is your job really a safe haven?
Can you guarantee that you will still have a job tomorrow? Next week? Next month? Or even by the end of the year?
Truth be told you can’t guarantee anything.
And that also applies to your business.
Nobody can promise that your business will be a success. We don’t even know what will happen in the next 5 minutes. However, one thing that you can guarantee, is you making the decision to come out of your comfort zone and put your all into your business wholeheartedly.
Imagine being on the brink of a massive financially breakthrough, but there was an invisible veil preventing you from moving forward. Each time you rose to the challenge, something kept pulling you back. So, you ended up sabotaging yourself unconsciously, by not pushing through until you got your financially breakthrough. You resorted to taking the easy option, of sitting back and watching everybody else achieve their big financial goals. Whilst deep down you felt like a complete failure and didn’t know how to overcome the disappointment.
But here’s the thing, you are not a failure. You are good enough. But, if you continue to not push through on achieving your business financially goals and aspirations, you will never leave your job financially secure and you will be robbing other people from experiencing what you have to offer. Not to mention you not being in a good position to contribute financially to all the good causes that you want to support.
You don’t have to charge low fees for your services.
You really don’t.
You have been given your business vision to impact others and make a significant difference in the lives of all of the people who come into contact with you.
Playing small is not going to get you there. You have to up your game.
What you need right now, is a helping hand from someone who will guide you into your desired outcome. Truth be told, we all need help and adequate support from others from time to time.
The beautiful thing about having a service - based business, is that everybody flows in their zone of genius which is to serve others.
My zone of genius is to empower, encourage and to instil powerhouse confidence into my clients who wants to up their game. Whereas taking photographs, social media marketing or dress making is not my zone of genius. So, I stay in my lane and hire someone who is more experienced in that area. By doing that gives me a better chance of achieving my objective.
So, in closing, the best way of transitioning out of your job into your business financially secure, is to up your game by raising your current fees.
You are worth much more than what you are currently charging.
Furthermore, a lot of people are waiting for you to offer your services to them.
Will you answer their call?
Okay, you’ve made the semi leap of going into entrepreneurship part-time. However, the more that you slave away in your business, the more that you become frustrated because you’re not generating enough revenue that’s the equivalent of your steady income from your job. You’re doing all the right things supposedly, but for some reason you’re just not seeing the results you so badly desire. So clearly something needs to shift in order to get a different result.
Being an entrepreneur isn’t just about coming up with an idea for a business. It requires so much more. As well as working on your business, you also need to dedicate a significant amount of time working on your own personal development. So that you will be able to stand strong when the challenges of life faces you. You have to get out of your own way if you want to launch a successful business.
Areas of development
If you had to assess the areas of where you need to improve in your own personal development, on a scale of 1-10 (1 being your strength and 10 being your weakness), where would you rate a) being a visionary, b) using your imagination, c) making quick decisions, d) being focused and e) taking actions that yields positive results.
I give you an example of what I mean, suppose you are a visionary, always coming up with creative ideas and are excellent at problem solving. But are terrible at focusing on one thing at a time and struggle to set realistic goals, you more than likely to get mediocre results because you won’t put all your effort into what you are doing. Or maybe you’re the kind of person who is very focused and spends a lot of time planning and setting goals, but is scared to use your imagination to dream the impossible. Instead you play small and never tap into your true potential because you’re so scared of failing.
Truth be told, if you don’t take stock of your strengths and weaknesses and take the necessary steps to work on yourself, you will end up going around in circles, sabotaging yourself unconsciously.
Is that what you want?
So, what needs to happen to get a better result?
In closing, being an entrepreneur is not just about working non-stop on your business. You need to also spend a good amount of time working on your own personal development. When you don’t reach out to others because you’re worried about being rejected, you are in fact getting in your own way and will end up sabotaging yourselves because you rather take the road of least resistance. The same goes for being a seminar or book junkie. You need to stop looking for the next fix and start implementing what is right in front of you.

I was having a conversation with someone this morning, who told me that they handed in their notice at work, because they had enough of being there. They are very passionate about starting their own business, but felt that being in work was taking their time away from working on their business.
I was in complete shock and horror, when they shared this with me, because this is 100% against what I teach my clients. I appreciate their reasoning and their decision, but I would never be in support of it, or work with a client who has sacked their boss, without first laying down the foundations of having a sustainable business for a number of reasons.
You’re asking for trouble If you leave your job without being financially secure, because you are more than likely to attract the wrong kind of clients to pay for your services. You also would be more willing to except anybody, rather than turn them away because they are not a good fit. Attracting the wrong type of clients, could end up being more of a problem then an asset to you in the long run.
1) If you leave your 9-5 job prematurely, you don’t have solid evidence to confirm that you have a viable business that people are willing to pay for. You could end up hustling unnecessary and then get frustrated because you keep hitting your head against a brick wall.
2) You need to build relationships with people and add value to their life before they will part with their hand earned cash. If you haven’t built up a strong network of people who are happy to even recommend your services to others, you are setting yourself up to fail.
3) The biggest challenge that most start-up face is not clearly identifying who their ideal client are and whether they are willing to pay for their services. They also struggle with knowing where to locate them. If you quit your 9-5 without carrying out adequate research about who your ideal clients are, you will become stuck, guaranteed.
4) It’s all fair and good having the idea in your head about wanting to have a viable business. But if you haven’t taken the time to write down your business vision, supported with evidence that there is a genuine need for what you are offering, alongside the action steps you will need to take, how do you intend on making your business a success?
5) Running a business is not for everyone, it takes a lot of hard work, sacrifice and determination. The stats are still showing that many businesses don’t last after 3 years. There are many reasons why this happens. But I definitely believe a lack of planning, inadequate research and leaving without a minimum of 6 months business revenue definitely plays a massive part in business failure.
Working in a job that you hate and feel unfulfilled in, could potentially be used to your advantaged. Your time is obviously limited whilst in your 9-5. But staying there will enable you to prioritise your business goals more effectively. Working on your business whilst stuck in your 9-5 job, will develop so many skills that you never even knew that you had. Developing these skills, will help you to transition into your business more smoothly.
As stated above, I would never recommend anybody to leave their job without being financially secure. Lack of finances just adds to the pressure of being a creative entrepreneur. My encouragement to you today would be to stay in your job until you have generated enough capital to sack your boss financially secure.

The number one reason why so many professional women remain stuck in their 9-5 job much longer then they have to, is because their business is not generating enough revenue.
I would never advise any of my clients to ditch their 9-5 job without first being financially secure. It’s way too risky. The benefit of generating a minimum of 6 months business revenue whilst still in your 9-5 job provides the evidence that you have a viable business and that the blueprint that you created to generate cash-flow into you business only needs to be rinsed and repeated so that your business is sustainable when you leave.
If you haven’t’ build up a client database of potential clients and haven’t’ generated enough business revenue and simply walk out of your job prematurely, you will more than likely have to go back to the 9-5 job because you would have run out of money.
This is something that I have seen time and time again. Why not make things easy on yourself and do things in a more strategic way? You will be in a better position financially, that will enable you to never have to go back to the 9-5. If you don’t have regular money coming into your business, you have to ask yourself if you really have a business or is it simply a hobby?
If you are struggling to generate consistent money into your business, there are many reasons why this could be happening:
One of my coaching client was stuck in her 9-5 job before she started working with me. She had already launch her business prior to working with but had to go back to the 9-5 because she was struggling to generate enough cash flow into her business. What she was selling wasn’t the problem. Nor was the pricing of her services were wrong.
She had developed a wealth of experience and knowledge over the years, so she was well within her rights to charge what she was charging. However, the problem she was experiencing was that she kept on attracting the wrong clients who loved what she was offering, but simply couldn’t afford to pay for her services. So, she ended up giving massive discounts or offering ridiculous payment plans to clients because she was scared of losing business. Although she was generating money into her business, those potential clients turned out to be a nightmare to work with because they were not her ideal clients. They were in fact pulling the shots instead of her.
Attracting the wrong clients
The reason she was attracting the wrong type of clients was down to her own self belief that people couldn’t afford her services. So naturally that is why she kept on attracting them. After a few sessions with me we got to the bottom of the root cause of her negative belief which was the fear of failure and rejection. Needless to say she no longer thinks like that anymore and has shifted in her mindset. She recently hosted a 7-day Facebook challenge and managed to secure a paying client who paid her full fees with hesitation.
It’s not difficult to exit your 9-5 financially secure, if you make a conscious decision to do whatever it takes to generate the equivalent of 6 months business revenue before you leave. You can do this easily by deciding how much money you need in total. Then being clear on who your ideal clients are that can afford your fees that will enable you to raise the cash flow to leave. If you have money blocks or issues around pricing and charging your worth, hire a coach or read books. There are plenty of clients/customers that will pay for your services. However, you need to believe this.
Imagine how you would feel if your ideal clients were easy to find and they were happy to pay your fees in full, which in turn would enable you to leave your job financially secure? What would they do for you?

Taking positive action steps toward developing your business is crucial to you taking the idea out of your head and turning it into a viable business. it will enable you to get closer to achieving your goal of ditching the 9-5 and it will also confirm that there is a genuine need for what you are offering. Alongside providing the evidence of where you fit in the market place and knowing what other action steps you should be taking in order to keep moving forward.
So many professional women similar to you, remain stuck and frustrated in their 9-5 job simply because they don’t take enough action steps towards realising their dreams. They end up procrastinating because they feel so overwhelmed by the number of things that have to do, alongside their already busy schedule. By the time they spin around and look they haven’t made much progress at all on developing their business and therefore fail to realise their potential.
What you need to do, is break your task down into bite size manageable chunks. So that you don’t become overwhelmed and find someone who will hold you accountable. When choosing an accountable buddy, make sure you find someone who has your best interest at heart and who will challenge and encourage you to keep going when things become difficult. Often time it so easy to choose somebody for the sake it, who already has their workload full and cannot commit fully to supporting you adequately. Which could end up going against you because it would just feel like you might as well be working by yourself!
Take a good look at where you are right now and make a decision about what steps you need to be taking to move forward with developing your business? For example, if you need to start attending more networking events, which events will you attend? how many will you be attending per week? Or maybe you haven’t started to attend networking events because you feel so uncomfortable in that environment. Truth be told you will need to get over your fear of not liking going if it's needed to grow and develop your business. So maybe your step could be to attend a how to network seminar or workshop.
My personal experience of networking
Taking to large groups of people has never been something that I have struggled with. I love talking to people and finding out stuff about them. However, in a networking environment, I found it very challenging the first couple of times I went because I didn’t quite grasp the purpose of going. A lot of people make the mistake of going to networking events to sell their stuff, instead of formulating a relationship with potential clients. When I was going, I wasn’t even trying to sell my services or form meaningful relationships. I was so in gross in listening to what other people had to say about their business because deep down I was too afraid to put my best foot forward in case I got rejected. So, I ended up leaving so many networking events completely disappointment. On reflection, my biggest challenge was me not seeing the value in what I had to offer and to not to be fearful of people rejecting what I was promoting at the event. Once I recognised this everything started to change.
I recently attended a networking event and was surprised by the number of women who were also scared to sell their products and services. One particular lady said she was about to leave the event before I approached her. Through our conversation, It transpired that she was feeling intimidated at the event and didn’t feel that she was getting anything out it. I spent a few moments inspiring her about my personal struggles at networking events and by the time we finished talking she decided to stay to the end and speak to more people.
There will always be challenges
One hat does not fit all when developing a business, whilst being stuck in a 9-5. There will always be challenges and there will always be countless amounts of tasks to complete, whilst realising your dream of launching a successful business.

Have you set a deadline for when you will be leaving your 9-5 job? If you haven’t, when exactly will you be planning to do so? Most professional women just like you, end up sticking around in a 9-5 job, much longer than they need to be. Simply because they make excuses such as, I don’t have enough time to work on my business, or nobody will pay me for my services and I don’t want to leave without a good amount of money behind me. These excuses may be true for you, but it shouldn’t be the reason for you not taking adequate action on your business and do everything that you can possibly do to leave the 9-5 in the shortest possible time frame. You can’t control external factors. However, you can change the decisions you make to move things forward.
Make A Decision to Leave
If you're serious about leaving your 9-5 job, I dare you right now to set a date and commit with your whole heart to leaving your job. It’s not enough to say that you want to leave your job but not commit to a date to make it happen. It’s a bit like being proposed to for marriage and not having a date set. One year down the line, what exactly are you planning for without a date in place?
I actually think you’re wasting your time
When you make a decision to set a date, not only are you becoming intentional about achieving your goal, but you’re also setting things in motion and are more likely to follow through on your business aspirations because you are now ready to start taking things seriously.
Worrying about how you will make money, or where you will find your customers should not prevent you from setting a date. It's a bit like the wedding example I used before. Once the date has been set you can then plan how you want the big day to go afterwards.
Plan Your Escape
Now that you have set the date to leave your job, the next step will be to plan in fine detail how you will escape from your job. It’s no point saying that you want to leave your job if you don’t sit down with a pen and paper and come up with a strategy, which explains, how you will go about it.
The things you will need to consider are as follow:
Without crafting a solid plan to escape you 9-5, you are setting yourself up to fail and are more likely putting yourself at risk. Which could end up backfiring and you having to seek employment from another employer a few months down the line because you didn’t plan your escape properly.
How Do You Want To Leave Your 9-5 Job?
It’s great that you want to leave, but have you thought about how you would like to leave? Would you like to have a leaving do with your work colleague? Maybe go out for a drink or a meal to celebrate your achievement. Or maybe your work environment was a lot less desirable so you would leave more discreetly and only announce it a few days before leaving.
Moreover, if you desire to leave you 9-5 job, you should make it a memorable experience, so that you don’t have any resentment or negative emotions attached to what you are pursuing. You should aim to leave in style because you want to start your new journey with a big bang. As the saying goes, start as you mean to go on.
It is possible for you to sack your boss and launch a successful business as long as you plan ahead and commit to what you desire. Once you have made the decision to leave and have set a date for when you will leave, spend a good amount of time planning all the steps that you will need to take to exit in a good fashion. Last but not least also plan how you desire to leave your working environment. Transitioning into a business is a brilliant achievement. So don’t forget to include how you will be going about this because you are leaving the old and going into something new.

If you desire to leave your 9-5 job in the coming months, you need to take heed of the following mistakes that so many high achieving women just like you make. These mistakes are very subtle but yet can potentially work against you if you decide to avoid them.
Mistake #1 Sabotaging Your Business Goals
If you've been going around in circles for a while, whilst trying to grow your business stuck in a 9-5, chances are that you are unconsciously sabotaging yourself. Now there are many reasons why you would do this. But it could be because of you being fearful of taking the plunge of standing on your own two feet with your business. It naturally will be a scary thing to do because you will now be 100% responsible for the money that comes into your business, which obviously will need to cover your basic living expenses, plus your business outgoings.
If you are currently struggling to generate enough business revenue, could it simply be because you are treating it like a hobby and not a real business?
Depending on the nature of your business, you could potentially earn double the amount of what you are currently earning in your 9-5 job if you position yourself currently. People pay for products and services that they value and appreciate. So, if you can prove that you have something of substance, then you don't have anything to worry about pertaining to whether you will attract your dream clients/customers. You will therefore no longer sabotage your business success.
Mistake #2 Not Believing in Your Business
You will never leave your 9-5 job if you don't believe 100% in the business that you desire to transit into.
How can you? You will constantly be double guessing everything that you do. You will be questioning whether you find clients and customers. And when you do get customers you will undercharge the true value of what you are offering, because of you being scared if you ask for more money you won't have any customers. So, you either will do things for free. Or over deliver because you want repeat customers. This is not a sensible way of running a business and it will also keep you stuck in your job much longer than you have to be because your business will not be sustainable.
You need to believe in your business if you want to leave your job. Believing in your business will give you the piece of mind that your business will be successful. To reassure you, why not ask people what they think about what you want to do? Don't just rely on the concept in your head. Also, when you have identified your target market, find out how much they are willing to pay for your product or services. Make sure you get feedback from your potential customers because at the end of the day they will be the ones paying for your product and services.
Mistake #3 Not Generating Enough Money
A common mistake that so many women like you make, is that they leave their job prematurely. I advise all my clients to generate a minimum of 3-6 months' business revenue before exiting the job. The reason I say this is because the lack of financial stability is one of the reasons why high achieving women stay in their job much longer than needed. So many of them struggle to generate enough business revenue.
Even if my client has savings or obtained a loan for her business, I would still advice her to generate 3- 6 months’ business revenue because it will provide her with the evidence that her business is viable, there's a demand for what she's offering and it also gives her the confidence boost that she will need to keep going when the going gets tough.
In closing, if you're in a job right now, I encourage you to not leave right now, until you have put systems in place to overcome the above hurdles. Otherwise, you might live to regret it. You need to believe in yourself, nobody can do it for you. If you want things to go in your favour, choose a business that's in alignment with your core beliefs and values. This will then enable you to generate a steady flow of consistent business revenue which in return will equip you to leave your 9-5 financially secure.
